A correspondent of the Sydney Morning Herald, signing himself " Humanity," directs attention to the loss of the Strathnaver, an old Sydney trader, and recalls the wreck of the Invercauld, which vessel was wrecked on the Auckland Islands lying to the south of New Zealand, in latitude SOdeg 48min 8, and longitude 166 deg 42min E, She was from Melbourne to Callao, in ballast, was caught in a hurricane, and driven on shere at the before mentioned islands, and oat ot a crew of twenty-five hands, nineteen landed on this desert island. After thirteen months' suffering, Captain Dalgarno and two of his shipmates were rescued by a passing vessel driven out of her course; the other sixteen had perished during their sojourn on the island. The only food on the island was a root and seals, and upon this •canty fare these poor sufferers existed until such time as Jfiovulence thought fit to send them succour. Captain Dalgarno now commands the City of Ningpo, at the present time at Sydney, and " Humanity" states that he is prompted in a great measure by Captain Dalgarno to call tbe attention of tbe " powers that be" to the possibility of the Strathuaver having met with a similar misfortune to the ill-fated Invercauld, and perhaps some of her unfortunate crew may still be dragging out a weary existence upon that desolate isle. He urges that some vessel should be despatched to the Auckland Islands, to discover whether there are any shipwrecked sailors there.
