G, Skidmore, Joseph Ward, George Ward, William Wilson, William Rooke, William Hanzing, and Jas. Wright, of the Strathmore, have arrived here by the mail. Subscriptions have been opened to assist them to New Zealand. The s.s. Australia’s departure has been postponed till Saturday. Melbourne, May 2. The Ringarooma left yesterday with the Suez mail. The directors of the Bank of New Zealand were the only tenderers for the Government account, so that their tender was accepted, on the conditions published some time ago. The following are the weights for the Birthday Handicap on May 24th :—Parawhenua, Bst 12lbs ; Don, Bst lOlbs ; Ariel, Bst 9lbs ; Ngaro, Bst 81bs ; Isaac Walton, 8s 71bs ; Perfume, Bst 61b ; Folly, 7st 121bs ; Bedouin, 7st 31bs ; Midd, 7st 31b ; Eclipse, 7s t. The Acclimatisation Society has resolved to co-operate with the Canterbury and other Southern societies for shipments of Californian salmon. It is understood that the Superintendent has written to the three Civil servants, stating that they need not come to Auckland, Wellington, May 2. The Agent-General reports that the City of Dunedin will leave the Clyde for Lyttelton in March with 250 immigrants. Dunedin, May 2. The time for receiving nominations for all the Handicaps to be run at Forbury on the Queen’s Birthday will close at eight o’clock to-morrow evening,
