CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, April 1. (Before R. J. S. Harmau, Esq, J.P.) Drunkenness. Ellen Jordan, charged with being drunk and disorderly, was fined 10s. Embezzlement. —Frederick Nowal Marley was charged with embezzling the sum of £7O 10s, moneys of the Provincial Government, received by him during the year 1875 for registering dogs. Inspector Buckley asked for a remand, to enable the Provincial Auditor to go through the books of the department. He might state that the prisoner admitted to him that he was deficient in his accounts to the amount of £7O 10s, and upon that he was arrested. He asked for a remand for eight days, but the prisoner could be brought up sooner if the case was ready. His Worship remanded the prisoner for eight days. The prisoner was admitted to bail, himself in £2OO, and two sureties of £IOO each.
