INTERPROVINCIAL CRICKET MATCH.
NELSON y WELLINGTON. (Per Press Agency?) Wellington, March 18. Thelnterprovincial Cricket Match between Nelson and Wellington was begun to-day. Play was commenced at eleven, The wicket was very good, but all the ground outside was very indifferent. Wellington went in first, Nelson having won the toss, and elected to send in Wellington. Eden bowled the first over, in which Salmon and Knapp made five runs. H. Cross led off the next over by three wides, and I. J. Salmon made a splendid hit for 4 in this over, and next over Knapp made a clean hit for 4, Soon after Knapp’s bails were taken by Eden, after making 6—total 22. Farrington took Knapp’s place, to 0. Cross’s bowling. Farrington made a fine drive for 3 off one of Eden’s balls, but after making 8 was bowled by C. Cross—two wickets down for 35. Edmonds went next, and scored 1, when Eden took his wicket in the first over—three wickets down for 36, 0. Cross and Eden bowling beautifully. Lockett followed Edmonds. I. J. Salmon sent one of Eden’s balls sky high, and was caught by Halliday, after making 22—four out for 47. Evans, after scoring 2, made a leg hit, and was caught by Coles—five for 52.
