The non-appearance of the British ship Loch Laggan, which left Liverpool tor Melbourne on the Ist October last, and now out 146 days, is beginning to excite serious apprehension for her safety. The barque Stillman B. Allen, Captain Taler, cleared at New York on January 2lst for Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington, with a cargo of Yankee notions, &c. The ship Avalanche, Captain William?, is to sail from Wellington to-morrow with a full cargo, and her saloon full of passengers. The flirt, brigantine, cleared at Auckland for this port on the 26th, with a cargo of sawn timber, 60 tons doors and sashes, and 220 nests drainpipes. There will be several changes shortly in the commands of boats belonging to the Union Company, in consequence of Captain Macfarlane going home for the Botorua. Captain Wheeler willtake the Taupo, and Captain Malcolm of the s.s. Maori, thfi H&Wfift The s.s. Beautiful Star, Captain Pietersen, arrived in harbor "on Saturday, at 5.30 p.m. from Dunedin, via Timaru, andAkaroa. She left Fort Chalmers at 8 a.m. on the 2ndj experienced strong head wind ; arrived at Timaru midnight the same day, discharged cargo and took in 167 bales of wool and skins, and left at 7 p.m. on the 3rd, then moderate S.K. winds with rain; arrived at Akaroa at 8 a.m. on the 4th: left 11 a.m., from thence light N.E. winds, arriving as above. She sails on her return trip to-day. The Union Company's s.s. Hawea, Captain Sinclair, arrived in harbor at 8.30 a.m. on Saturday morning. She left Onehunga at 12.30 p.m. on the 29th ultimo, and arrived at Taranakl at 6 a.m. on the' Ist Inst; left at 10 a.m., and arrived at Nelson at 11 a.m. on the 2nd'; left at 1.30 p.m., and arrived At Picton at 9 p.m.; left at 4.30 a.m. on tbe 3rd, and arrived at Wellington at 9 a.m.; left at 3.15 p.m., arriving as above. Experienced moderate weather throughout.' The Phoebe, s.s.. Captain Worsp, arrived in harbour at 5 p.m. yesterday. Left Port Chalmers at 6.30 p.m. Saturday; had strong N.E. winds, and arrived as above. She sails North at 3 p.m. today. THE GBANADA S.S. This steamer was signalled at 10 30 a.m. yesterday morning, and at noon the s.s Moa steamed for he vessel. Arriving alongside the visitors (of whom there were a large number), went on board to have a ookat the new arrival. The Granada iB a vessel ot 2572 38-100 tons, and is similar in appointments to the City of San Francisco, though by no means bo luxuriously fitted. She is three years old, was built at New York, and is brig rigged, her spars looking rather light in proportion to her immense bulk. The Granada was drawing about 19ft aft, and extreme care was taken in steaming up the harbor, the lead being kept continually going. The mails having been placed on board the Moa, that steamer left the" Granada's side, and the huge mail boat got under weigh and proceeded on her road to Dunedin shortlyafterlp.m. , The following account of her passage was kindly furnished by the purser:—The steamer Granada, 2572. 38 tons, J. M. Cavarly commander, sailed from Sydney February llth, at 7.10 p.m., arrived at Kandavu February 18th, 1.38 p.m.; the P.M. S.S. Co.'s steamer City of San Francisco arrived at Kandavu February 18th, at 10 p.m., and received thirty-eight cabin, seven second, and fourteen steerage passengers, 83 tons freight, and 139 bags mall, and sailed February 19th, at 7 am. Granada left Kandavu February 26th,'at 6.30 a.m., arrived at Auckland March Ist, at 8.55 a.m., weather from Kandavu to Auckland fresh S.E. trades; sailed from Anekland March 2nd, at 6.30 a.m., arrived at Napier on the 3rd, at 8.40 p.m. left at 10 p.m, arrived at Wellington on 4th, at 5 p.m. left same day, at 8.17 p.m, arriving at Lyttelton at 12.30 p.m. yesterday.
