HEATHCOTE REGATTA.
A meeting of the Heathcpte regatta com* mittee was held last evening, at eight o’clock, at Warner's Commercial Hotel, Present—Mr J. T. Fisher, M.H.R, (in the chair), Messrs Jones, Monck, Thomson, Wadman (hon sec), Day. It was stated that the subscriptions, entries, and cash in hand amounted to £llß, "and that Mr A. 0. Watson, of Sumner, had presented two challenge cups, to be won twice, and to be competed for in the double sculling race. Mr Elingenstein’s tender for the sole right of the paddock on the day of the regatta was accepted. The following entries were receive! for the regatta, to be held on Wednesday next. Entries. No 1,1.80 p,m.—Pair sculls and coxswain, in stump outriggers; oval course 1 mile ; entrance, 10s; prize, Coates and Go’s Cup and medals, value £2 10s. O.R.C.—Two entries. H.R.C,—One entry. No 2,2 p.m.—Junior Fours, with coxswain, under 20 years; 2 miles; entranpe, £1; prize, £l6. Hlyssus, C.R.O, Heathcote, H. 8.0. Sabrina, D.B.C. *r. , No 3,2.30 p,m.—Senior Pairs, with coxswain; 2 miles ; entrance, £1; prize, Mr J. P. Jameson’s cup and £ls Cam, Cure Boating Club Heathcote, H. 8.0. No 4, 3 p.m.—Junior Pairs, and coxswain under twenty years; 1J miles; entrance, 10s; prize, £7 Sylph, 0.R.0. Waterlily, H.R.C. Heathcote, H.R.C. No 5, 3.30 p.m.—Senior Pairs, and coxswain; H miles; entrance, 15s; prize, £lO Cam, Cure Boating Club Hlyssus, C.R.C. Heathcote, H.R.C. Sylph, U. R.O. No 6, 4 p.m.—Double Sculls, and coxswain, in stump outriggers; oval course, 1$ miles; entrance, 15s; prize, £lO Cure Boating Club 0.8.0. H. 8.0, No 7, 4.30 p.m.—Rob Roy canoes. Distance 1 mile, oval; entrance, 10s ; prizes, £5 and. £2, if five boats compete. Rip Rap, Jones Peri, Ollivier Peep o’Day, Bowron Scud, Sweet.
The races to be palled under the 0.8.0. rales;
The positions of the boats at starting were drawn for by the committee. Sailing race—Post entries at 1 p.m. on regatta day. The following officers were appointed Starter, Mr Herdson ; judge, Mr Thompson j umpire, Mr F. H.Digby. After the transaction of some routine buaiaeu the meeting adjourned.
