- »■ : TOWN v COUNTRY, This match was coutimted on Saturday last. Ollivier and Souter, the not outs with 2<> and \G respectively, appeared at the wickets at about 2.45 p.m., but after 5 runs had been added to the total Souter was clean bowled by Ashby. Lee was next to appear, but soon lost the assistance of Ollivier, who allowed a half volley from Fuller to pass—six for 82. Dixon, after making a 4 and a 3, was dismissed by Ashby—seven for 91. The eighth and ninth wickets fell for 98, but A. C. Wilson and B. Fowler brought the total to 183, when the latter gave an easy chance to short slip, after making 22 by some free hitting. Wilson carried out his bat for 11, which includes two 4's. The Town then went in, but soon lost three wickets, Wood, Corfe, and Ashby retiring in quick succession. At this period of the game it commenced to rain, and it was impossible for the bowlers to hold the ball. Aa a natural consequence runs came freely. J. Fowler did the principal part of the scoring, making 67 by free hitting, although some of his hits were not in the rieht direction. His principal hits were a 4, four 3's, and fifteen 2's. _ The last wicket fell for 119. The fielding was very good, and we noticed two very gopd catches, one ly Alpe at point, and the other by Ollivier at short stop, when he caught out Maclntyre. The match will be continued on Saturday next, when th§ Country have IUI runs to get to win,
