CHRI%!HURCH. Friday, December 10. [Before his Worship the Mayor and J. Ollivier, J.Ps.] Larceny.—Wm. Harrington was charged on warrant with stealing money from the bar of the Q.C.E. Hotel. The accused had gone behind the bar on Monday last, during the temporary absence of Mr Beatty, and taken some silver and coppers from off a shelf. On Mr Beatty's return he found accused there, when the latter jnmped over the counter and tried to get away; Mr Beatty followed him, and knocked the money out of his hand, but did not succeed in detaining him. Information was given to the police, and the man was arrested in the Saxon Hotel, Lyttelton, on Wednesday night, by detective McGorman. Sentenced to one month's imprisonment. Drunk and Disorderly.—Ann Osborne, an old offender, was sentenced to one month's imprisonment, with hard labour. Drunk and Illegally on Premises.— Samuel Austin, charged with being drunk and illegally on the premises of Mr F. Palmer, Colombo street south, was fined ss.
