The Globe. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 1875. TELEGRAPHIC NEWS.

{Per Press Agency.) New Plymouth, November 19. A meeting of the shareholders of tin Titanic Iron and Steel Company, in New PJy mouth, was held last night, convened by Mi Matheson, for the purpose of ascertaining the position of the company. Mr Matheson condemned the practice of the directors giving work to private persons, instead of putting it up to public tender, and said he was of opinion that the. directors did not

want to make it a success. He urged (hat a practical manager should be appointed. Mr B. M. Smith also spoke, saying he considered a local directory should be appointed. The following resolution was carried—" That a committee, to consist of Messrs Jackson, Smith, and Matheson, be appointed to ascertain the correctness of the facts mentioned, and to report on next Thursday, with a view to their bringing the matter before the directors." Wellington, November 19. The time for the issue of new writs is not yet definitely fixed, but probably it will be about the 10th proximo. Considerable delay has beeh caused by the difficulty experienced in making the various registration and returning officers understand thoroughly what was required of them in reference to the recent re-division of the districts, which has involved a lengthy explanatory correspondence, which, in some instances, even yet is geing on. It is not considered likely that arrangements will be completed before the second week in December. The members of the City Council intend to entertain Mr W. S, Moorhouse (Mayor) at dinner, on the occasion of his retirement from office. The new Thorndon baths are now all but completed, and will be opened in a fortnight at the farthest.
