A fair start; Tommy Dodd led all the way ; Speculation fell at the hurdle opposite the stand the first time round. After this event Tommy had it all his own way, and won as he liked by nearly 300 yards. Pungawerewere and Korari were in front at the start, and the two were together the first time past the stand. Shortly afterwards Korari took up the running on his own account, and was never headed all the way home, eventually winning very easily by a length from Fishook. Daniel, who ran a game good horse throughout being two lengths away from the pair, and Pungawerewere being beaten off a long way. Metropolitan Handicap, of 100 sovs, added to a sweepstakes of 5 sovs each for acceptors. Entrance, 3 sovs, to go to the fund. Acceptances by 1 p.m. on the day of the race, on the racecourse.
