Messrs J. T. Ford and Co report on the livestock market, for the week ending- Friday, October Bth Instant, as follows: —At the Addington Yards on Wednesday last 5407 sheep and 308 head of cattle came to hand. The number of sheep were far in excess ot the requirements ol the trade, added to which was a very inclement day, and the sheep market was a complete drag throughout. A few pens of very superior quality cross-breds were quitted at full rates, but the balance of sales for fat sheep were made at a reduction on former week’s value. Shorn sheep sold at about per lb, and others at about 3Jd. Store merino wethers brought from 5s 6d to 6s 9d each; fat lambs from 7s each to 10s 6d. The news by recent telegrams of an advance of Id per lb on wool should stimulate our buyers for store sheep, and we are also convinced that at present rates the diiferent boiling down establishments could be profitably employed. Cattle of all descriptions sold remarkably well; beef quite up to 37s 6d per 1001 b for anything like quality, and store cattle were eagerly competed for. As the spring advances we expect to see this class of stock in very active demand. Our entries for Wednesday were—On account of M. S. Campbell, Geddings, Woodßros, J. R. Gorton, J. T. Brown, R. M. Bovey, R. Cook, Wm Keith, jun, Clarkson Bros, Johns, and J. Taylor, consisting ot 234.8 sheep and 128 head ol cattle, as under, viz :—Account M. S. T, Brown, Esq, each 18s ; 120 merinos, account R. M. Bovey, Esq, each 6s; on account of J. R. Gorton, Esq, 414 merino stores, at 5s 6d each; and fat lambs, at 7s 6d each. Also, various other lines at above quotations. In cattle, we sold 103 head on account of Isaac Taylor, Esq, of the Buocleugh station, for 3 years old steers, at £7 each ; 2 years old steers, £6 2s 6d each ; for 18 months old steers, £4 10s each; 8 cows, at £6 15s each ;21 cows, at £4 17s 6d each; 14 heifers, at £3 10s each; and 15 heifers, each £4 10s. On account of Mr W. Keith, jun, we sold fat steers at £l3 each. On account Mr J. Johns, we sold 10 head, at from £5 17s 6d to £8 ss; and privately during the week we have placed 4000 cross-breds and 1000 merinos, at lls each.
