LYTTELTON YACHTING CLUB.
The annual meeting was held on Thursday night. Present—Mr P. Cunningham in the chair, and Messrs Murray-Aynsley, Maude, Pockard, Eyes, Talbot, Young, Makeig, Cameron, D’Authreau, Rich, and Dr Bouse. The chairman said that the annual meeting, should have been held on the 7th, but lapsed through small attendance. He was glad to see such a good attendance, and that Messrs Murray-Aynsley and Maude from Christchurch were present. The first business was to receive the annual report and balahce .Sheet*--- p r :/.i. ,The following report of the committee was then read.: —
“ Your committee beg to report as follows
—The formation of the club took place in September, 1874, on the basis of a proposition which merged the Lyttelton Boating Club into a yachting club, the particulars of which you aire'conversant with. “.The assets of the Lyttelton Boating Club, amounting to £7B lls 2d, being handed over upon the understanding that all members of the late club should be free of entrance fee, and also subscription for the first season. According to instructions, your committee submitted’a draft code of rules to a general meeting held on the 25th November, 1874, which, -witb amendments, -was adopted February sth, 1875. r. -“.Steps were immediately taken to procure a suitable yacht, by a sub-committee corresponding with ■ Dunedin, Nelson, and Auckland, or ascertaining if a vessel could be procured or’ built in Lyttelton; the result being that, with the kind assistance and cooperation of thfr commodore.(P. Cunningham, Esq), the yacht Fleetwing was purchased at Auckland; and was satisfactorily brought doifrn to Lyttelton by Captain A. G. Arm- - strong-early in -May of this-year. The thanks ; o£ dulyxonveyed to these gentlemen. . : “ The account of purchase appears in the treasurer’s statement. “ Under authority of a general meeting, held May 22nd, . the sub-committee had the ‘ Fleetwing’, dismantled, and placed on Messrs Flett and Loutit’s slip for the winter season, sinoer which .date she has been thoroughly cleaned, and tarred, inside lining, the gear, &c, being in fair order ; is now housed, by kind permission, in Messrs Miles, Hassall and- Co’s warehouse. “ The treasurer’s ; statements to date are Annexed, and gives the details of accounts, showing totals, viz—Receipts, £Bl 14s 2d ; disbursements,• £79 12s fid; leaving credit balance of £2 Is 8d in hand. The assets Show as £194 14s fid,- and the liabilities as £,107 -8s ;2d—assets in excess of liabilities £B7 6s 4d. , , . x at present of thirty members, and as a practical start will be made as ■ early as possible; for the coming . season, it may be expected that many will join, .and thus^nable the club to obtain more vessels, and bring to a success the undertaking .commenced under such favorable ;.auspices. r " “W.
