SUPREME COURT.

SITTINGS IN BANKRUPTCY. Thursday, September 2. (Before his Honor Mr Justice Johnston.) The usual monthly sittings of the Court in Bankruptcy was held yesterday at 11 a.m. Last TCxaminations. be andrew m'taggart. On the application of the bankrupt in perBon, his Honor made the final order of discharge. RE ERASER AND BROWN. Mr Joynt applied that this case might Btand over uDtil October 7th. His Honor granted the application ; case to stand over. RE GEORGE WILLIAM GATES. In this case the accounts not being filed, an'adjournment was made to October 7th. RE WM. BRENT ROGERS. A similar order was made in this case as the accounts had not been filed. RE HENRY JONES. Mr Bamford applied for a final order in this case. The trustee's report in this case was unfavorable, and his Honor said that it would be regarded as an opposed case, and placed at the bottom of the list. RE HENRY JOSEPH M'CLELLAND. Mr Thompson applied for an order of adjournment to October 7th, in order to enable the bankrupt to answer the trustee's report. His Honor granted the application. RE THOMAS BLYTH. Mr Thompson applied for an adjournment of this case, in order that accounts might be prepared. His Honor granted the request, adjourning the case to October 7th. RE ROBERT GILKES. The bankrupt, in person, applied for the final order of discharge. There was no opposition, and his Honor made the final order. RE WM. HENRY BARRY. Mr Walton said that this case had been adiourned to enable the bankrupt to hand over a security for £750 from Mr Lockhart. This had now been done, and consequently there was no reason for further adjournment. . His Honor made the final order. RE NORMAN FILE. Mr Joynt applied for an adjournment to October 7th. His Honor grauted the application. Last Examinations—Or posed Oases. RE HENRY JONES. In this case the trustee reported unfavorably as to the bankrupt. Mr Bamford appeared for the bankrupt, The objection of the trustee was that a certain section of land at Rakaia had been sold by bankrupt, of which no account was gl The bankrupt explained this, and showed that the price of the land bad been accounted for in his statement, so far as £ls which

had bnen received by him, leaving £3O a& a debt to the estate.

After the bankrupt had been examined at some length, His Honor adjourned the case until October 7th. EE RICHARD RETALLIC EASTERBROOK. Mr Joynt appeared to apply for the discharge of tin bankrupt. Mr Wynn Williams appeared on behalf of the trustee to examine the bankrupt. The bankruptand his father were examined at some length. His Honor granted the final order. RE SAMUEL MATTHEWS. Mi Bamford applied lor the final order in this case. After the bankrupt had been examined, His Honor made the final order.

IN CHAMBERS. RE PETITION OP WM. LANGDON, CREDITOR, AND ANDREW SCOTT, A DEBTOR. Mr Wynn Williams applied for a conditional order of adjudication on the creditors' petition. The debtor had absconded to Auckland, and affidavits had been filed to the effect that it was believed that he was going to San Francisco. His Honor made a conditional order of adjudication ; bankrupt to show cause in seven days. Mr Williams then moved under the 92nd section of the Bankruptcy Act for a warrant of arrest against the debtor to be directed to Inspector Harry Feast of the detective force for execution.

His Honor granted the application; warrant to issue to Inspector Harry E'east of the detective force and his assistants. RE ASSIGNMENT OF \VM. WEBB STEVENS In this case, which stood over for an affidavit of the residence of the debtor for six months last past in the iurisdiction. Dr« Foster applied for an order declaring complete execution, the necessary affidavit having been filed. His Honor made the order declaring complete execution.

RE GEORGE W. COLLINSON. The debtor in person applied for an order fixing the date of final examination. His Honor made the order, fixing the date of last examination for October 7th.

RE GOTTERMEYER AND ANOTHER V HAUCK

Mr Thompson applied for a debtor's summons to issue to the defendant in this case;. His Honor made the order, directing defendant to appear within fourteen days of service. RE MIDDLETON AND M'QUADE.

Mr Garrick moved for a rule nisi calling on the trustees to suspend declaration of dividend, and to take directions from his Honor as to realisation of assets.

Mr G. Harper, for the trustees, consented to the course being taken. His Honor made the order, ou the understanding that the rule was not to be taken out until after the return of his Honor from Hokitika. WILSON V HALL AND OTHERS. Mr J. S. Williams moved for an order directing that the sum of £(5500, money in this cause now in Court, be paid into the Bank of New Zealand as a fixed deposit for three months. The shareholders wereanxious, as some difficulty might be experienced in distributing the assets, that they might be receiving interest for the money. This is a case in reference to the Town Hall Company, in which the shareholders had brought a friendly suit against the trustees in order that the money might be paid into Court and the estate liquidated. This has been done, the sum of £GSOO representing the assets of the company. Mr Wynn W illiams appeared on behalf of the defendants to consent to the application. His Honor made the order.
