The barque Planter, Captain Crighton, left Newcastle on the 10th, had fair u eather till off Kaikoras, where she was detained two days by a b.W. gale, arriving in harbor on Thursday. The fore-and-aft schooner Onward, which left Lyttelton on Thursday afternoon, arrived in Wellington last evening, at 6 p.m. . The schooner Mary King, Captain Hilton, arrived in harbor yesterday morning from Tairua with timber for Mr J. B Way. . The barque Southern Cross is discharging her Hobart Town cargo at No 1 wharf. The schooner Alert is loading produce at the Tunnel wharf for Hokitika. The three-masted schooner Alma, Captain Walters, cleared the Customs yesterday produce laden lor Greymouth.. She sails to-day. The schooner Onward, Captain Powell, sailed yesterday for Wellington. Captain Grubb reports that he passed the schooner Elizabeth Curie off the Kaikoras. She is from Picton, and bound for this port with timber °The'steamer Albion is notified to leave Lyttelton for Melbourne via North on the 31bt. The s.s Tararua will arrive to-day from Melbourne via West Coast and Wellington. She is notified to leave tor South this evening. A barque was signalled yesterday morning from the South, but owing to the strong head wind blowing, she had not got inside the Heads up to the time of our express leaving last night. It is reported as being the Queen of the Sea, from Hobart Town The'ketch Sarah and Mary, Captain Grubb, arrived ia harbor at 0.30 p.m. on Thursday from Greymouth. She left that port on Thursday, Aug 19th, at 2 p.m., experienced light westerly winds; passed Cape Farewell at 10 p m on the 20th then strong S.W. winds, increasing into a gale ; hove to off Stevens' Island on the 21st; passed Cape Campbell at 4 p.m. on the 22nd, then easterly and northerly winds till her arrival as above. The following arrivals and departures took place at Auckland r yesterday:-Arrived-Johu Rennie, ship, from London, with thirty saloon and intermediate passengers, all well. Sailed-Stag and Glimpse,barques, for Newcastle. The weather is Company's steamer Maori, Captain Malcolm, completed another round turn about the Middle Island yesterday, when she arrived Fort at 2.30 p.m. The trip was uneventful throughout, and was marked by fine pleasant weather hence to the Grey. Thence the weather was northerly and thick, with a heavy westerly sea along the coast, compelling her to give Big Bay the go by, the entrance being closed by the surf. She left this Sort 2 1 30" Im. ou the Tilth, and reached Nelson at the same hour next day; left again at noon on the 13th, arrived off the Westport bar at 5 a.m. on the 14th and when the tide served, a couple of hours later, she ran inside. Left Sesame day at 8 p.m., arrived off Hokitika at 3.30 a.m. on the 15th, and crossed the bar at 8.15 a.m. Thence on the 16th *he went to the Grey, remained there 24 hours coaling, &c, and left at 11.30 a.m. on the 17th for Jackson's Bay. Arrived there at 3 am on the 18th. landed stores and left three hours later. She was off Big Bay at 10.25 a.m, eased steam and had a look at the entrance and then passed en for Milford Sound, arriving there at 2.20 p.m., left at 5 nm. arrived at Preservation Inlet at 7.35 a.m. on the 19th, landed stores, &c, and went on again at 3 15 p.m. and arrived at Bluff at noon on the 20th. Left again at 5.15 p.m. on the 2lst and arrived at Port Chalmers at 9.5 a.m. on the 22nd Experienced li-'ht northerly weather from the Bluff until she was off Cape Saunders on the 22nd, when the wind veered round to S.W. Left Port Chalmers at 4.45 p.m. on the 25th ; arrived at Timaiu at 7 a.m. the next day; discharged about 90 tons cargo and left at 7 « in.; arrived at Akaroa at 7.30 a.m. yesterday; left at JO a.m, and arrived as above. She sails for Dunedin via intermediate ports atl p.m. to-day.
