MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Friday, June 25. (Before G. L. Mellish, Esq, R.M.) Drunk and Disorderly.—John Bannister and James Orme were each fined 5s for drunkenness. Vagrancy.—Ellen Jordan, an old offender, charged on remand with this offence, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labor. Assaulting his Wife.—Anthony Ferrick was charged on remand with assaulting his wife. The evidence showed that complainant was equally to blame, and his Worship dismissed the case, advising Ferrick to join the Good Templars. Drunk and Threatening His Wife. James Lutton, charged on remand, with assaulting his wife, was ordered to find two sureties in £SO each and himself in £IOO to keep the peace for twelve months. Failing to Obey an Order of the Court.—George Wilson appeared on summons to answer the charge of not obeying an orcer of the Court for the support of his child. Fefendant said he had come to an arrangement with the complainant, and his Worship f.djourned the case to enable the police to make enquiries.
