INDECENCY.
To the Editor of the Globe. Sir, — From your daily report of the proceedings in the Resident Magistrate’s Court, I have observed with regret that cases of indecent exposure are alarmingly on the increase. Slight as the mitigating circumstance of intoxication may be for committing such an offence, it is made all the more heinous when a man perfectly sober is proved to have been guilty of so much grossuess, as in the case heard yesterday morning, and after the nature of the offence had been clearly proved, and it was stated had been repeated in the presence of two females and children, who can do other than express surprise that through the magistrate’s clemency the offender should be permitted to repeat his conduct at the end of a month. If some severe example is not made of such ruffians who pollute our public reserves parents will find it necessary to keep their children and servant girls within doors. Yours, &c, PATERFAMILIAS.
