SITTINGS IN CHAMBERS. Tuesday, February 22. (Before His Honor Mr Justice Gresson.) THE CAB CASE. In this the application by Mr Garrick for a writ of prohibition, addressed to the Resident Magistrate, restraining him from enforcing the fines imposed by him upon certain cabmen, was adjourned until the 12th of March next. GILMOUR V BRUCE. In this case a rule nisi, calling upon the defendant to show cause why a wiit of attachment should not issue against the defendant for contempt of the process of the Honorable Court, had been obtained. Mr Garrick appeared to show cause against the rule. Mr Joynt contra, in support. It appeared that an injunction had been obtained by the plaintiff restraining the defendant from taking possession of the Waitangi saw mills at Waimate, but that, acting in defiance of the injunction, the defendant had taken possession and ejected plaintiff therefrom. His Honor made the rule for attachment of the defendant absolute, without costs, the writ to be directed to the sheriff of the South Canterbury district, requiring him to bring up the defendant before the Judge in Chambers on the 12th of March. The Court then rose. (Before the Registrar.) RE HARRIET HART. Mr Slater applied for an order fixing date of final examination. The Registrar made the order, fixing the date of last examination for Thursday, the 15th of April.
