EXHIBITION OF ENGLISH AND FOREIGN BEER.
(From the European Mail.)
The brewers of Australia and New Zealand will shortly have an opportnuity of competing with the European brewers. An exhibition of English and Continental beer is to be held at the Agricultural Hall, Islington, at the beginning of May, 1875, and will remain open for one week. Every description of brewing plant and machinery will be shown, as well as beer. Colonial brewers will be permitted to send their samples in bottles, and they will be shown free of any entrance fee. As with sugar, so with malt and hops, there is much to be learnt on the subject of “ expressing’’ their virtues, so as to render the beverage both cheap and profitable. I hear that several of the German brewing firms have already entered. As the process of brewing upon the Continent, in our colonies, and at home, will thus be demonstrated ; and as, moreover, the very best machinery necessary for the purpose will be on view, I have no doubt that the subject will engage the attention of the brewing interest in Australasia.
