PRIZE FIRING.
On Thursday morning a detachment of the Christchurch artillery went to the rifle range, Hillsboro’, to fire for prizes. Sergeant Piper won the first prize, a silver cup, presented by Messrs Peterson and Co. Bom. Burnet won the second prize, a piece of plate presented by Sergeant Piper, and Quarter-Master Sergeant Raven won the third prize, a sura of money. A handicap rifle match was fired at the range, Hillsborough, yesterday, for prizes given by Dr Frankish, M.D., to thecorapany. The conditions being seven shots at each range of 200 and 400 yards, the handicap to be declared when the whole of the company have fired.
