EAST MALVERN.

The Board met at 12 o’clock on Tuesday at their office. Present —Messrs Mcllraith (chairman), McMillan, Lawry, Barr, and Willis. Mr Barr and the clerk were appointed to examine Goodman’s unfinished contract and report at next meeting. It was decided to form the road along the western boundary of the educational reserve to the Hawkins. Communications were read — From Mr Lee, stating that the revision of the roll would take place on Friday. From the Provincial Engineer respecting the new cutting at the Kowai, and from the Provincial Secretary, stating that the third instalment of the Government grant was paid into the bank. The Board decided to endeavour to obtain a daily mail as soon as possible. It was considered desirable to have milestones and way-posts between Christchurch and Porter’s Pass, and the Board decided to use their influence to have the work commenced as speedily as possible. The Board then adjourned.
