Fenwick had this race in hand throughout, and came in an easy winner by ten yards, two yards separating 2nd and 3rd. Ten ran in this race. Time, Imin Bsec. One Mile Flat Race. (Open to the whole school.) Westenra ... ... ... ... 1 Gerrard 2 Whitcomb also ran, but gave up at first lap. The third lap Westenra was leading by yards, but at last lap round Gerrard passed him 200 yards from home. When in the straight run in Westenra put on a splendid spurt, and came in a winner by ten yards. Time—s min 33 sec. One Mile Flat Race. (Boys under 14.) Fenwick 1 Smith ... ... ... ... 2 Stafford also ran but gave up at first lap round.
Fenwick and Smith ran well together the whole distance round, at no time more than two yards separating them. In the straight run home Fenwick put on a splendid spurt and won by 6 yards, after one of the best Junior Boys’ Races we have seen in Canterbury. Time—s min 59 sec. Long Jump. Gould and Robinson tied for second place, but in jumping off Gould won, Robinson being disqualified for having accidentally touched the starting tape.

An adjournment was then made to lunch, the first part of the programme having been got through.
