MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.

CHRISTCHURCH. Thursday, October 8. [Before J. Marshman, Esq., J.P., and G, L, Lee, Esq., J.P.] BREACH OF CITY BYE-LAWS. For allowing horses and cattle to wander at large, the following persons were fined : John Dollan, 5s ; John Rountree, 5s ; G. Chisnall, 5s ; George Truckle, ss. Edgar Hartley, for hurting and harrassing a horse, was fined 10s. Joseph Kingston, for not having his horse under control, was fined 10s. H. Jordan, who did not appear, was charged with having furiously driven his horse and cab along the Papanui road. Fined 20s. Thomas Williams, for causing an obstruction in Hereford street on the 22nd September, was fined 10s. James Burke, in the employ of A. J. White, was charged with having been too far away from his horse and van. at the Railway Station, to have proper control over them. Fined 10s. John Thomas Pappril, for a similar offence, was fined 10s, and expense of witness ss. ASSAULT. The charge against Hans Dixon for assaulting Frederick Golding was withdrawn. LYTTELTON. Wednesday, October 7. [Before W. Donald, Esq., R.M.] APPLICATION FOR TRANSFER OP LICENSE. Robert Belgrave applied for transfer of license of the Lyttelton Hotel to Robert Cole. The application was adjourned for one week, to enable applicant to get evidence as to character.
