(Ecr Anglo-Australian Press Telegraph Agency. ) Auckland, September 17. The Gem has arrived from Warnambool •with 100 tons of potatoes. They were all sold during the day*at an average of £9 per ton, bags extra. The Good Templars have formed a benefit society, in order to participate in the Government new proposals for life assurance. Wellington, September 17. The Agent-General, under date 3rd of September, reports that the following numbers of emigrants have been despatched in August : —For Auckland, Hydaspes and Assayo, with 7tio ; for Nelson, the Mail, with ;SSO ; for Wellington, the Soukar, with 415 ; for Taranaki, the Ilourali, with 380 ; for Lyttelton, the Pleiades, with 220; for Otago, the Auckland, with SCO. Flour, £l2 15s to £l3 5s : bran, Is 3d to Is 5d ; wheat, chick, 4s 6d to 5s Gd ; milling oats, 5s to 5s 3d ; oatmeal, £24 to £2O per ton ; hams and bicon, 10'd to' Is ; cheese, 8d to 8-Jd ; butter, Is 9d to 2s. Mr Kedwood's racehorses Fungaria, lioro, nnd Titoko, which run at the Christchurch meeting, came from Nelson per the Phcebe, which sailed for Lyttelton at 5.15.
