On the same date, in another column it publishes the statement of the Mayor which is to the following effect~ "The Mayor stated that through the kindpeas, of the.' If not the Council would have to go, through the ordinary routine in such cases'." J I quite agree,with his Worship the. Mayor, and I think it will be some time yet before the Christchurch luminaries will be able to place the cabmen under their control.
