«, CHRISTCHURCII. Wednesday, August 5, [Before C. C. Bowen, Esq., R.M.] DRUNKENNESS. Geo A. Wilson was fined 20s, or to be imprisoned for forty-eight hours for being drunk while in charge of a horse and cart, and using obscene language. John M'Sherref, for being drunk and disorderly, was fined 10s. John Davies, for a similar offence, was fined 10s, or in default twenty-four hours. James Archer was fined 20s, or in default forty-eight hours. LYTTELTON. [Before W. Donald, Esq., R.M.] Tuesday, August 4. drunkenness. Charles Gaver, a seaman, arrested by constable Reilley, charged with this offence, was dismissed with a caution. NEGLECTING TO PROVIDE PROPER ACCOMMODATION FOR CREAV. Captain J: B. Sherlock of the barque Union, was charged by the crew with the above. Mr Nalder appeared for the crew of the barque. The Bench after hearing the evidence of one of the complainants, adjourned the case until next day, to enable the captain to procure professional assistance. EMBEZZLEMENT OP CARGO. Samuel McKinley, Frank Chatterton, and Alexander Adamson, seamen belonging to the ship Eastern Monarch, were charged with this offence, and remanded until Friday next for the production of evidence. NEGLECTING TO KEEP A LIGHT BURNING. William Burnip, of the Railway Hotel, was charged upon the information of constable McGorman with this offence, and fined 10s, and costs 4s. KEEPING HOUSE OPEN AFTER HOURS. John Savage, of the Mitre Hotel, was charged upon the information of constable McGorman with this offence. The Court, after hearing the evidence, dismissed the case. CATTLE TRESPASS. James Heggs, Charles W. Brown, and Wm Piteaithley, were charged with allowing cattle to wander in the town, and each fined 5s and costs. Frederick Beechey was charged with allowing a cow to wander on the Governor's Bay road, and dismissed with a caution.
