His Worship ’told defendant that it had been telegraphed from, Auckland, by the police, that this was a very hard case, arid that hiflc.wifei was actually destitute, and som,e payment must be made at. once and future provision made for her support. <, Defendant said he had no money just now, as he had been more than'a week out bf work, and if his wife hafl taken care of the money she had she would not have been destitute now. t His. Worship told defendant that he would have io remand him to Wellington unless he was, prepared to, pay the minimum agreed on by the authorities, viz,' #2 at once, aud 15s weekly'for the future. Defendant said that he was going to take a situation as ploughman, and he would be willing to pay the money when he earned it. His Worship said he did not wish to deal hardly with defendant. He would make an order for 15s per week, to be paid weekly into that Court, aud the first paymnent to be made on the 10th inst, and it would be necessary for defendant to make these payments regularly or further steps would be taken. TRANSFER OP LICENSE. The transfer of his wholesale license was granted from Mr T. D. Jones to Messrs Dalgety Nichols aud Co.
