The s.s, Phoebe, Captain Worsp, arrived in harbour yesterday, at 3.35 p.m.. from Wellington. She sailed for the South at 5 p.m. The s.s. Maori sailed for Dunedin, via intermediate ports, yesterday, at 4.45 p.m. The ship Northampton has commenced the discharge of her inward cargo, which is turning out in excellent condition. The s.s. Atrato was brought up to an anchorage off the town yesterday aftggpg-'hu The ship Golden Sea was, pfer yesterday anchorage at the.JH"-' :, "~~ • from Dunedin, arrived yesterday afternoon. We understand, says the N, Z. Times, that orders have been scut to Scotland by Alessrs M‘Meckan, Blackwood, and Co for a new steamship for the New Zealand branch of their fleet, and that Air Waugh, late chief engineer of the s.s. Tararua, has been sent home to superintend the construction of the vessel. She will have compound engines and all the latest improvements, so as to maintain worthily the reputation of the line. The schooners Bcnclcugh and Spray arrived last Saturday, the former from Wellington with a cargo of pipes, and the latter with produce and pipes from Lyttelton, Both the schooners were towed in by the Titan.—“ West Coast Times,” June 22ud.
