Globe Office, Tuesday. The Customs reveuue collected yesterday

The ; land sold at the Waste Lands Board yesterday amounted to 2603 a, realising £5206.

' Melbourne.—The Argus of June 9th, reports :■—" In the import market business to-day has been without animation, and, as things look, there is little prospect of improvement. Breadstuffs move off very slowly indeed, the few sales effected being confined to supplying actual requirements. Bakers' lots of flour are quitted at £l4 15s to £l4 17s 6d, bags included. ¥or parcels £l4 5s is wanted, but there is no business to report. Wheat maintains a steady quotation of 6s 6d to 6s 8d for good to best samples, but owing to the paucity of supplies, there are no sales being effected. For oats we report a fair inquiry, which is likely to lend to '.business in feeding descriptions, Beveral sales being now pending at 5s 4d to 5s sd. Maize is gradually getting easier. A line of 400 bags was disposed of at 5s 2d. The only noticeable feature was the auction sale of sugar in the forenoon, but even that was a comparative failure ; 8519 bagß and pockets Mauritius, comprising the Naworth Castle's shipment, were submitted to competition, but only a few lots of yellow brewing were disposed of, at 34s to 34s 9d, the balance being withdrawn for improved rates. We observe that some 3000 bags of Bourbon sugars will be offered to-morrow. Small sales of teas in boxes are mentioned at Is for low ordinary. In liquids, further sales of 10 per cent o.p. rum come under our notice at 4s 1 id. We observe that holders of old brandy are beginning to look to England as the best market for such descriptions. We noticed on Saturday that a shipment of 100 hhds was being made to London of kartell's 1869 ; we now learn that no loss than 170 hhds are to shipped away under instructions from home. Timaru.—The " Herald " of Monday says : —There has been but very little doing in grain during the week, and prices remain unchanged, best wheat being quoted at 4s 4d, oats at 4s 2d, and barley at 4s 6d for malting. Shippers are still complaining of the want of vessels to convey wheat away, some stores being very full, but there seems no prospect, at present, of the want being supplied.
