LICENSING COURT.
♦ KAIAPOI. Monday, June 15. (Before G. L, Mellish, Baq., R.M., Chairman of Commissioners.) EXTENSION. An extension of license was granted to J. H. Greer, Sneyd’s Arms Hotel, for a dance at ithe hotel among a few neighbors, one evening during the week, till 2 a.m. adjourned license. Mounted-sergeant Mullin, stationed at Oxford, reported in reference to the application of J. Skilton, Oxford Hotel, for a country hotel license, which was granted at the annual meeting, subject to certain improvements being made, that they were in progress. A parlor, dining room, and three additional bed rooms were being made, which promised to give plenty of accommodation. Mr Skilton said it would be three weeks or a month, with all the hands they could get, before the house was finished. The weather had been bad, and that morning the snow was a foot in thickness. The Commissioner said the time for finishing the improvements would be extended eight weeks from this date, the police to report on the 17th August.
