MUSICAL COMEDY PLANS OPEN. The box elans for “The Desert Song.” “Lilac Time,” “Whoopee.” and “The Student Prince,” the hmsica.l plavs to bo presented by J. C WT 'Ramson Ltd at the Opera House during the season of seven nights, commencing on Tuesday night, were opened aL Chrisp’s music store yesterday, and heavy ad. vanco bookings for all four plaws were recorded. Many musical plays have enjoyed popularity but few to the same extent as these four musical plays. All have proved great money-makers for the Williamson firm, and delighted crowded jaudiences in both Australia and the Dominion. They will be interpreted hero by a particularly strong east of characters, with full chorus, ballet and orchestra. The p'ays were produced by Air. Victor Tatnall, and the orchestra is under the musical direction of Air. Harry Burton. 7'lay goers of Gisborne have been wishful for a long tune 'for an opportunity to see “Tbe Desert Song” and the other plavs announced to be staged here. Nearly all tbo members of tbo company make a first appearance in Gisborne.
