One of the finest and, at the same time, most entertaining double-feat-ure programmes yet offered at tbe Majstie Theatre will be presented today, when Petty Balfour in “Bright .Eves” and William Haynes and Joan Crawford in “Tbe Duke Steps Out. 1 will be the special attractions to be presented. Dainty and lovable Betty Balfour, the popular British international star, who is appearing in “Bright Eyes,” has won the hearts of thousands. In “Bright Eyes” she is even moro adorable than ever, and is cast in a role which was specially selected for her. The play concerns a little dishwasher's romance in a big cabaret establishment in England, and is full of comedy and stirring dramatic sequences. Wiliam Haines, he of the manj sided athletic prowess, invades a new field of sport in “The Duke Steps Out,” in which lie lias as costars Joan Crawford and Kail Dane. He becomes a prize-fighter and stages a thrilling and realistically sensational ring battle as one of the highlights of the production.. At the same time lie’s a different kind of prize-fighter from the usual ring hern of the screen, for between battles lie goes to college. The story, while U abounds in comedy of the more subtle type, is essentially a beautiful love romance and the fight scene and other thrills, together with the comedy. only form a vivid background for the central romance.
