George MeGavin O’Kane, a voting man, for negligently driving a motor > nv, causing the death of Stanley Omand, a motor cyclist, at Eoxburgh. was sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment. The judge took into account the fact that the jury considered the negligence to he due to over fatigue. Thera' was, however, no need for the. accused to be on the read at all after having snent the evening ii; festivity. He had also narrowly escaped a collision with iUir.-t.hcr ear. In a well-lighted spot accused ran down the cyclist and left him on the road with his own tyre punctured and Iho mudguards dented.
