SWIMMING
GISBORNE CLUB'S CARNIVAL
What promises tu be the outstanding carnival of the season will be held tomorrow evening under the
auspices of the Gisborne Surf and Swimming Club at the High School baths.
Tile principal event of a lengthy programme is the 220 yards men’s championship to be fought out between Alclveague, Culebourue, Aliller, and Bradley. Never before has a classic race presented such an open issue and it is confidently anticipated that the Poverty Bay record will ' be shattered. A test race over 100 yards for the vacant- place in the Swain team for the Hawke's Bay provincial championship is creating great- interest } and should provide a strong struggle. In view of the pending contest with the Heretaumm Swimming and Life Saving Club at Hastings, a Possibles and Probab'es water polo match will he conducted, subsequent to which the selected players will be announced. A supporting list of varied competitions makes a programme which should strongly appeal to swimming patrons.
