Ivay, Now Zealanders and members of the R.A.F., who obtained three months’ leave to visit their homes, have purchased a deSouttor threeseater air-taxi of the latest pattern, with one hundred miles cruising speed, altered it to a two-seater, and are installing an extra petrol tank in place of the third seat, giving the monoplane 850 miles range. They are hoping to take off before dawn on February 9.
The first stop will be at Lyons, and thereafter Naples. Malta, Tripoli, Baghdad, Karachi. Rangoon, Koopang and Darwin. If they reach Egypt under throe clays, they will attempt to beat Hinkler’,, record to Australia. They do not intend to fly the Tasman Sea being content to reach Sydney.
