PAULS CHAMPIONSHIP CBN THE TOURNAMENT TE EARAKA WINS To Earaka- scored a very popular victory in the pairs championship tournament of the Gisborne centre, played on the Poverty Bay green yesterday. Eight clubs were repress entod and the play reached a high standard, with several l very close finishes, notably the To Karaka-Pover-ty Bay game in the semi-finals, when the score was .17 all in the penultimate head, the country team then notching a point on the .final head and going on to defeat Gisborne after another close match, in tile final. The green was in excellent condition and the weather.god proved very kind. Results were as follows: —First Round— To Earaka (Auld and Murray) 27 v. Tokomaru (Roberts and Neill) 18. Strangers (Paltridge and Wootton) 22 v. Tolaga (Hurlstone and Smith) 17. ' Gisborne (Clark and Sinclair) 21 beat Kahutia (Power and Martin) 14.
