MILITARY SERVICE
OBJECTORS AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICE. (Special to tho Tiraes.) WELLINGTON, Fen. 6. Proposals made by the new Commissioner of the Salvation Army for service of conscientious objectors to military training with the Army lie in some pigeon-hole and the pionuse of some former Minister on the subject is still unredeemed. Recently, ‘ ie Defence Department made overtures to the Army on tlm subject of alternative service, and proposals drawn up by the Commissioner were sent in reply. Thesi have sull not been dealt with, or n thev have been, the Army knows nothing of it. No information is available in Defence circles as to the nature of the suggestions, or the date when they may be considered. It U thought that Ih s. probably, will not be done until a new Alinister of Defence is appointed.
