SHEEPSKINS, HIDE AND TALLOW SALES.
Dalgety and Co. Ltd., Wellington, hekl their fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides, tallow and sundries on January -31- 'The firm offered a very attractive catalogue of all grades and descriptions, to a lull attendance of exporters, tanners, fellmongers and the local trade. Sheepskins:—The enquiry for a 1 grades was irregular, and values in sympathy with the London market receded Id to l’jd per lb on previous quotations, shabby, inferior and Seedy - lots at times being 2d lower. Salted • Skins were easier in sym patliv with dry’s. Hides:—The firm's catalogue comprised good eonsignmonts of butch, ers.hides, and these coinmanJed keen eompeti Cion. Heavies were fully oil a par with late rates, reed, iuiu weights'par to Jd lower, while : lightweights were Jd to J ,d lower. Kip, yearling end calf were in demand. and sold well, up to the level of values quoted at the sale on January '7.
