WAERENGA-O-KURI SPORTS.

RECORD ENTRIES. As a country sports meeting the Waerenga-o-kuri Sports Club’s annual fixture held on Mr. W. 13. Mossman’s grounds on Saturday, proved one of the most popular attractions of the year. The willow-shaded slopes that formed a natural grandstand to the sports arena, provided an ideal picnic spot for a large attendance ol visitors from all parts of the district. ' A large number of visitors were also present from town. The club specialised in horse events and some particularly fine animals .»ere entered. District record entries for this season were received in practically every instance and keen competition resulted. Great praise is due to -the energetic secretary, Mr. E. Matthews, and an efficient committee for the manner in which the meeting was conducted. The club’s 1.7 guinea cup for the open jump (hunters’ style) was won by L> Woodward’s Gczireli, while Miss Yvonne Harris annexed the gold medal for the best boy or girl rider. A fitting finale to the day Was a dance held in ’Mr. Gillingham’s woolshed in the evening. Floor space, was at a premium, and a most enjoyable time was spent by all present.
