INVERCARGILL SALE SUPER HOGGETS RISE 5 TO 10 PER CENT. INVERCARGILL/ Jan. 28. 1 The wool sales concluded this morning, resulting in an almost com15i eto clearance of the whole catalogue of over 22,000 bales. There was a record bench of buyers, bidding being most animated. , An excellent selection • was offered and extreme prices paid. The north- , ii levels were fully maintained and super hoggets showed a rise of 5 to 10' per cent. The range of prices was: Half-bred, super t0"193d, medium 16d to 17£d; inferior l-td to 16d; fine crossbred, super 15d to 16d; medium 13£d! ..to id ; inferior 11-Jd to 13id ; medium crossbred, super 15d to 16|d, medium 23d to 143 d, coarse IOJd to 12£d; coarse crossbred, super 12;/d toll 3^-1,d 1 , medium llj-d to 12-id, inferior lOd to I'Ud; ci'utehings G£d to Bd, necks i2|d to 14Jd; locks 4d to 7Jd. —P.A. HAWKE’S BAY RAM FAIR HASTINGS, Jan. 28. The Hawke’s Ray ram fair was continued to-day when the balance of the Romney flocks and other Llreeds were put up. Bidding for Romneys was weak with pool- prices, except for quality which obtained good figures. A line of 13 Romney shearlings sold by Hoad’.ey Son and Stewart on account of Mr A. McLeod, of Feilding, to Norman Poison of Takapau fetched the outstanding price of 27 guineas. There was practically no market for Lincolns, the top price being 3i aiineas. Southciowns were in good demand from the start at very satisfactory figures, ranging to 10J- guineas, with low passings. Border Leieesters were almost neglected, but a limited entry of Ryelands sold well, up to 5} guineas, whilst a sma.'l penning of Corriedales met a fair demand at prices up to seven guineas.-—P'.A. .
