PRODUCE MARKET WEEKLY REPORT There is little of any import to report in regard to local movements on the grain, seed, and produce marcot. Maize is still feing quoted in small parcels to Hawke’s Ray and Wellington merchants, and there is also a limited inquiry from Auckland, growers are holding off, however, and asking 7s net on the farm. ' The new season’s wheat expected to come shortly on the market should affect maize prices to an adverse extent. Chaff has not been out this season and merchants are still drawing cn j south for present requirements. A liipment of the Blenheim product is expected to arrive next week. Rye-grass .is coming forward slowly but in most cases it is very dirty on account of the large amount of second growth. The hulk of it will require putting through the machine North operators are now offering 9s f.o.b.s.i. Other lines of produce are receiving little attention at present. MATAWHERO SALE. BRISK BIDDING. PRICES UP TO THE AVERAGE. There was a good attendance of the public at the weekly stock sale at Matawhero yesterday, and the bidding was brisk almost throughout. Store sheep.—There was a good demand for store sheep, with prices well up to the average, but sellers were holding out with fairly high reserves and there was, in consequence, a number passed in. Two-tooth ewes made 22s 6d, -4ths were passed in at 19s, and 6-ths brought 20s 9d. Wethers brought to 20s Bd, and lambs about I2s 9d. A few prime heavy ewes made 16s, and others sold r.t about 14s Gd. Only five lambs were yarded, 17s being the highest price. A pen of maiden mixed sex sheep was passed at 20s.

Argentine chilled hinds 4d. do., fores 2RI; heavy supplies of North Island N.Z. new season’s pork; N.Z. quotations are nominal. LONDON BUTTER AND CHEESE MARKETS. (Received Jan. 28, 9.20 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 27. The butter market is quiet.- All prices arc unchanged except Danish, which has risen to 184 s. The cheese market is firm.
