COAST CRICKET

TOKOMARU DEFEATS TUPAROA. F. WIOKENS TOPS CENTURY. (Special to the Times.) TOKOMARU BAY, Jan. 27. A very interesting match was played here to-day when Tuparoa met the local team. Victory went to Toliomaru by an innings and 64 runs E. Wiekens (104) and W. Hurley (51 were the batting “stars” for the winners and the best bowling was done by W. Oates <5 for 27) and N. Oates (5 for 30). Fairlie took a very good one-handed catch. For Tuparoa, H. W. Akers was particularly conspicuous for his brilliant fielding and took a beautiful one-handed catch. Taken all round, Tuparoa fielded better than the homo team. A return match will probably be played on Saturday. Following were the scores, Tuparoa winning the toss and batting first: TUPAROA. —First Innings.— D. Grace, c sub bW. Oates ... 4 W. Hunter, b H. Oates 2 / C. Grace, c sub bW. Oates ... 4 Pera, b H.
