AMATEUR ATHLETICS. GISBORNE CLUB. A meeting of the committee of the Gisborne Amateur Athletic and Harrier Club was held last evening. Mr. A. W. Mason presided over a full attendance. The Te .Karak.a Spoils Club notified the Club that a special trophy donated by the Herald, would be awarded the cyclist gaining most points in all the events on January 29. Accounts amounting to £36 Os 3d were passed for payment. The following Poverty Bay jecords were passed: January 13, 75yds. ladies’, Miss N. Eastwood, 9secs.; January 15, 880yds. cycle, J. Douglas, Imin. 12 l-ssec. 3 one mile cycle,. J, Douglas, 2min. 34 l-ssec. 3 three miles cycle, J. Douglas, Bmin. 15 4-5 sec.; January 20, five miles cycle, J. Douglas, 14min. 6 2-ssecs.; January 15, one mile flat, R. A. Rose,' 4min. 38 2-ssec. In connection with the New Zealand championships at Auckland, it was decided to forward Miss N. Eastwood’s name for the ladies’ events. In view of .Miss Eastwood’s injury, Miss Wilson was instructed to keep in training as an emergency. A trial over one and three miles for the cyclists in view vf the New Zealand championships, will be arranged by the emergency committee. ■ It was decided that Messrs. O. Paltridge, F. Truman, H. Martin, T. Corkeryand L.-Sutcliffe compete in the 80 yards scratch race to be held tc-day. * A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. and Mrs. H. Swan and Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Paltridge for billeting Messrs. Rose and Lamb during their visit to Gisborne. The valuable services rendered by Messrs W. Paltridge, G. J. Robertson, W. S. McKee, A. Smith, W. l’ocock, and M. R. Fry at the sports meeting on January 15, was mentioned favorably. Miss E. Williamson and S. N. Smith were elected members of the Club.
