BOXING

TOKOMARU BAY TOURNEY. Quite a lot of interest is being taken locally in the boxing tourney scheduled to be held at Tokomaru Bay on Friday night. Matches already arranged include: Al. Brown (Te Karaka) v. Gil. Barwick; Jim Alright v. Territs (Opotiki) ; Keenan v. JA’almnui (Tokomaru Bay); AVntty Robertson v. A. Buckingham (Te. Karaka). The following will also make the trip in order to assist: Livingstone, Plank, McKays (2), P. Brown, M. Brown and L. Fletcher. Local competitors will go by a Gisborne Alotor Service car, leaving at 3 o’clock on Friday, S.‘ Bardwell being manager.

NOTES AND NEWS. Up till the present the G.B.A. Inis been unable to fix a “pro.” fight for Race Week and a proposal is afoot to hold an amateur tourney at popular prices if possible. ! < Mr. F. E. Porter has been appointed President of the Tokomaru Bay Boxing Association, rice Mr. P. J. R. Fordham, who has been transferred to Dunedin. Mr. G. H. Pufflett succeeds Mr. Porter as vice-president. The following officials have been appointed for the Tokomaru Bay Boxing Association’s tournament on Friday evening next: —Announcer, Mr. T.'G. Buchanan; Scale Steward and Call Steward, Mr. J. Porter; Medical Steward, Mr. A. N. Wilkins; Gong Steward, Mr. G. H. Pufflett ; Rounds Steward,' Mr. P. D. Moore; Glove and Refreshment Steward, Mr. I. Lowe; Timekeeper, Mr. Martin Were; Offi-' cial Seconds; Messrs. Cookery, W. Te Whata, T. Hautapu and J. Newton. The report of the Murray-Leeman contest on November 25 states that Leeman gave Murray a great pasting for six rounds, then Murray took a, turn and got all over his opponent. On their wav of judging Murray was the loser of six rounds and should have been declared the loser, but. no doubt the last four rounds, so easily won. by Murray, ■ caused the decision to go in his favor. %
