There was a record gathering in bright sunshine for the Bay of Islands Racing Club’s annual meeting at Kawakawa on Saturday. The course was in good order. The fields were small but provided excellent iinislies. The totalisator handled £8369 10s against £10,413 10s last year, when the "meeting was held at Wliangarei, and £9323, when it was held at Kawakawa in 1925. The totalisator put through £13,127, compared with £15,444 last year. Following are the results : Elstow Handicap.—3 Sean Trinbhais (Wood). 1, 1 Roey 2,2 Lenorma 3. NOTES. Much interest was created on Saturday at .the-exhibition in the window of Messrs Tatter,sail and Bayly, of the handsome gold cup presented to the Gisborne Racing Club by the president, Mr IX J. Barry. The trophy, which is of artistic design, stands on an ebony plinth, and is without doubt one of the most valuable gold cups in the Dominion. It will he handed to the winner of the Gold Cup, to he decided on tlie first day of the Gisborne Racing Club’s meeting at the Park racecourse on Thursday, Feoruary 3.. The weights for the meeting were declared on Saturday and appear to have given general satisfaction, so that large fields and keen contests should ho witnessed. The acceptances will close on Friday next. From all indications the annual meeting of the Poverty Bay Trotting Club to be held on the Park racecourse on Saturday next should he a most siiecesful one. Several visiting owners at the Hawke’s Bay Trotting Club’s meeting at Napier on Saturday have announced their intention ot coming on to Gisborne, including tlie owner of a Blenheim stable. Acceptances close with the secretary, .Mr H. E. Dodd, at -5 o’clock this evening. RANDWICK RACES. DONMOON WINS CHALLENGE STAKES (United Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received Jan. 23, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 23. The Jockey Club Anniversary meeting commenced at Randwfciv. The course was heavy and sloppy'. Following are the results: — Challenge Stakes.—Donmoon 7.2, 1 • Camilla 7.13, 2; Perriwoo 8.1, 3. Thirteen started. From a bad start, Donmoon had a lot of leeway to make up, but-going great guns lie overhauled the leaders after passing the distance and made a flying finish, winning by two lengths.
