At tiie Supreme Court, the jury, after four hours’ deliberation, failed to agree on a charge of manslaughter against .Joseph Balie in respect to the death, at Hamilton, of Maurice Enoch Ansell, who was knocked down bv a motor driven by the accused on May 6. Deceased was riding a bicycle behind which ac-

cused’s car came up and then deceased turned to the ritrht. Accused swerved, but hit the bicycle. The defence was to the effect that accused had exercised reasonable care in attempting to pass the cyclist. A new trial at the next criminal sessions at Auckland was ordered, a change of venue haring been granted "from Hamilton for the original hearing.—
