SERIOUS CHARGE AGAINST .MAORI. WAIROA; Nov. 4. The nolice arrested a Maori named Runi He mi Tua- Tua, at Tiuiroto yesterday. for alleged unlawful carnal knowledge of a Maori girl, aged 11 years- 8 months. The accused was brought before the Court this morning, and remanded for one week.
RUBY'S BODY IN WASTE PAI’FR RECEPTACLE. AUCKLAND, Nov. I. The body of a prematurely.-horn, well-developed baby was found in a wire waste-paper receptacle attached to a telephone pole near tiro chief pjist office. DUTY ON SHODDY TWEEDS. AUCKLAND, Nov. •!. The Industrial Association decided to request the. Government to give attention to adjusting the duty, on all low valued imported tweed suits and costumes, with a view to protecting the Dominion industry. The resolution was the outcome of a complaint that- shoddy tweeds and clothing were being imported to the detriment, of the local trade.—P.A.
