A TRAGIC RECORD
FOURTH HUSBAND SENTENCED TO DEATH. (Received Nov. 3. 8 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 2. Mrs Ethel Sims, the young wife of a Nottinghamshire miner, might claim the most tragic marriage record of any woman in England. Her first and second husbands were lulled in tho- war, her third was fatally injured in a colliery accident, and her fourth, Arthur Sims, aged twenty-four, has been sentenced to death’ for the murder of his wife’s nine-year-old sister, who was found strangled by a bootlace under a hedge. There is no motive for the crime, as Sims and tho child wore devoted to each other. The jury rejected a plea that Sims' mind was unbalanced owing to the hardship and cruelty he endured in' a German prison camp. —A. anti N.Z.C.A.
