■■ - —-<3 * ————— WOMAN DROWNED FROM FERRY BOAT. AUCKLAND. Nor. 3. Just after the arrival at De"import of the ferry steamer from Auckland at 10.20 this morning crie:; were heard conrng from the water. Some men launched a dinghy. They found a woman, aged about seventy years, whom they conveyed to a launch. Artificial respiration was resorted to but the woman died. She has not yet been identified. Later. The victim of the Devonport drowning has been identified as t Mrs Elizabeth Lowndes, aged 6-5. a resident of Grey Lynn. —P.A. BOATING FATALITY AT COROMANDEB - AUCKLAND. Nov. 3. On a launch trip to Parntu. Coromandel . on Sunday, the son of G. P. Hansford, of the firm of Hansford and Mills, contractors, Wellington, was drowned, when a dinghy containing four people, including deceased upset in a heavy .sea. Three others had a narrow escape from death. Mr Hansford, senic:-, went to Parntu to inspect a quarry., The party wc-re returning to the launch when the dinghy upset. Young Hansford , and three others, including ,cj(k Parsons son of H. C. Parsons, liansfordhs foreman, were in the dinghy when it swamped. Young Eaiisiord dung to the small c-rait. Howard Parsons and George Millorton swam out to help those In the water, parsons rescued his own son, who'couldnot swim. Then he swam back for young Hansford. The latter was washed away before Parsons could reach him. ’ The others who were capsized swam ashore. Deceased, aged 20. resided at Epsom. At an inquest a verdict of accidental drowning was returned.
STRANGE SUICIDE. HAMILTON, Nov. 3. A'.i unknown man was found by a boy staggering about with his throat etit in a gcrse-eoveretl area at Hamilton East last evening. Constables summoned rendered first aid. but the man died within a few minutes. A razor later was picked up near where deceased was first seen Nothing is known of the man. Nothing by winch he could be identified was found. The man was about -50 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches in height, of fair complexion. with a red beard. He wore a light tweed suit and newly-soled boots.
FARMER'S DEATH. INVERC ARGILL. Nov. 3. At the inquest of .Joseph Sharp, aged 71. a retired fanner, found drowned in the Waibcpai river, the evidence showed that he had been worrying about finance, though there was r.o occasion to do so. An open verdict was returned. WOMAN FOUND DROWNED AUCKLAND. Nov. 3. Mrs Bella 'Lonie, middle-aged, was found drowned in the sea near To Atatu wharf this morning. Deceased's husband, Peter Louie, and oldest son are at present in Auckland hospital. There are three other children. Who pays the bill for the injured worker?
