COOK COUNTY LOAN

MEETING- AT PA TFT AH!

There was an attendance of between 30 and 40 ratepayers in the Cook County at a meeting held at Patutahi last evening to discuss the loan proposals. Amongst those present were a number of Ngatapa residents. Mr Richard Sherratt presided. Mr G. M. Reynolds, chairman of the Cook County Council explained the proposals, and asked for questions. Mr Angland responded by asking many questions and Mr Bavliss putup some very good arguments, mainly in favor of the roads. The chairman- then moved a vote of absolute confidence in the loan proposals. The proposition was seconded by Mr W. K. Robb, and carried practically unanimously, only two not v oting. Councillors Matthews and Sherratt spoke in support of the County chairman’s report, and urged the ratepayers to turn up to the poll and vote for the loan, so that the Council might be in a position to take up the Government’s offer.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the County representatives for coming, some of them so far, to the meeting, and the chairman called upon everyone present to support the loan.
