WAIKANAE BEACH

OFFICIAL OPENING ON THURSDAY.

The. official opening of the Wuikanae Reach Improvement Society’s 1924 season will be held on Thursday, November 6. The opening day will include a fine series of children's events viz., sand castle competitions, treasure hunt and races. MEETING- OF COMMITTED The usual meeting of the Wai.ka.uae Beach Improvement Society was held last week, Mr J. A. Nicol occupying the chair. There were - Iso present: Mesd'ames Walsh, Gibbs, Stephenson, and Nesbitt; Messrs Nicol, Forster, Bruce, Armstrong, Webb, Robinson and Ingram. Some discussion took place regarding the programme for the opening day and final arrangements woo made.

The chairman reported on negotiations in regard Lf procuring an electric motor. It was decided that tne secretary advertise for a suiable motor, the sub-committee to have power to act. Donations of sugar, etc. to be sued on the opening day were received with thanks. It was decided that in future no cycles should he ridden on the promenade.

A letter was received from the City Baud offering to play during Thursday evening, November G. A visit of inspection was paid to the hath house which has now been re-painted.
